Upholstery Cleaning
Over the last decade the upholstery cleaning industry has evolved considerably. There are many different fabrics and fibers used in upholstery today. Some fabrics today even use a combination of numerous fibers. It is very important to apply the proper method of cleaning that the fabric requires to prevent damage to the fabric.
Most fabrics today fall into one of two categories, natural fiber or synthetic fiber. Natural fibers themselves are broken down into two categories, protein or cellulosic based. Protein based natural fibers are materials such as silk and wool. Cellulosic natural fibers are fabrics such as cotton and linen. Cleaning methods used for natural fibers are most often going to be Foam Cleaned or Dry Cleaned. Synthetic fibers are usually cleaned with hot water extraction (steamed cleaned).
Properly identifying fibers and applying the proper cleaning method is a challenge that professional technicians are faced with today. Some upholstery manufactures have cleaning tags under the cushions. These tags can usually identify the method of cleaning required for that fabric. Due to their inexperience, many carpet cleaners are apprehensive in regards to cleaning upholstery because it can lead to ruined fabric and furniture replacement or recovering. The experience and skill level of our technicians instills the confidence necessary to handle such delicate fabrics.
